Warning: this post contains no amusing travel anecdotes nor my uncontrollable ramblings about food or Salisbury cathedral. Instead you’ll see some people who I caught off guard or even tricked into having photos taken of them, under the guise of being their friend.

People don’t like having photos taken of them and I am not used to taking photos of anything other than landscapes or inanimate objects, so my raised interest in portraiture and desire to practise was a difficult wish to satiate. The only way to get what I wanted was to wear my potential subjects down with constant unwarranted attention. To make them accustomed to a camera in their face at every turn. And just as I had planned, through this shear persistence and understanding that my friends would briefly hate me, it worked. These photos are spread over a few years and have helped me to realise that despite the fact that people are difficult subjects, its a area of photography i’d like to continue with.
